It costs $400 to add wheels to your new Mac Pro

Want an all-new Mac Pro you can ride home from the Apple Store? That will be an extra $400, please. That’s how much it will cost you to add four wheels to your new machine.

Mac Pro fans have long been calling for Apple to make its most expensive desktop more customizable. And, boy, did we get that this year. But it’s not just the inside of the Mac Pro that can be tuned to your liking.

There’s also an upgrade for its casing that’s particularly handy for those who need to move their desktop around on a regular basis.

Mac Pro wheels aren’t cheap

For the rather hefty sum of $400, Apple will install four wheels on the bottom of your Mac Pro that make it easier to cart around.

They’re not exceptionally special wheels. They don’t have spinners or LED lights or racing tires. But they’ll let you ride your Mac Pro down a hill, or pull it across your office without tearing up the carpet.

By default the Mac Pro ships with stainless steel feet. And that’s what you should stick with if your machine is going to be stationary most of the time. They look a lot better.

You can finally order the 2019 Mac Pro today from the Apple Online Store. It starts at $5,999 with a 28-core Intel Xeon W processor, 32GB of RAM, a 4TB SSD, and two Radeon Pro Vega II GPUs.

Apple throws in its latest Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard with that. But if you’re lusting after a Pro Display XDR as well, that’ll be an extra $4,999. Or $5998 with the official aluminum stand.
