So you just bought a shiny new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and you have no idea how to get your Apple Watch to play nicely with it?
Most iPhone users just reset their Apple Watch and start brand new. But if you want to keep all your health and fitness data, there’s an easy way to switch your Apple Watch to your new iPhone.
Here’s how to switch Apple Watch to a new iPhone the right way.
1 – Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
2 – Tap the My Watch tab.
3 – Choose Apple Watch, then Unpair Apple Watch.
4 – Hit Confirm, then enter your Apple ID if asked.
Make sure to keep your watch close to the old iPhone until the unpairing is finished. Only start the unpairing process when you’re ready to start using your new iPhone.
1 – Back up your old iPhone to iCloud by going to Settings >> iCloud >> Backup.
2 – When setting up your new iPhone, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
1 – Open the Apple Watch iOS app.
2 – Tap Start pairing.
3 – Hold your new iPhone over the animation.
4 – Wait until you see the message “Your Apple Watch is Paired.”
5 – On your iPhone, choose Restore from backup and follow the prompts.
Should you run into any hurdles in the process, check out Apple’s online support document.
